Some designs begin with a sketch. Peaks Sofa began in the stillness of isolation.
During the muted months of isolation, when the world narrowed to the walls of our homes, Yves Béhar found himself imagining closeness. The easy warmth of sitting together, the quiet comfort of being surrounded, the gentle silliness that comes only when people feel at ease.
Out of that stillness, a question emerged: What if a sofa could bring us closer? Not just by providing a place to sit, but by shaping a moment, encouraging play, inviting touch. That question became Peaks Sofa.
Shaped by You
Just like its name, Peaks Sofa is reminiscent of terrain, even acting like it – soft, shifting and endlessly open to interpretation.
Triangular forms rise and fall with the lightest gesture. Dual-foam peaks tilt forward or back, creating valleys to recline in and ridges to lean against. A flat expanse becomes a lounge platform. Two peaks become a shared slope. A cluster becomes a hillside of conversation.
Available as a Seater or a Lounger, Peaks Sofa adapts to the way you live. Choose a more compact setting for sitting and gathering or extend the landscape to stretch out and slow down.
The design is shaped by you. It feels personal because it becomes personal. And when the first prototype entered Yves’ home, it revealed its true nature. Children immediately turned it into a mountain landscape. Adults settled into its folds, laughter softening their shoulders. Grandparents leaned back into its gentle slopes.
A Design Memory, Reimagined
Peaks Sofa carries an echo of 1970s conversation pits – those beloved sunken lounges where evenings slowed down and people naturally gathered. Yves has cherished these forms for decades. But Peaks Sofa reinterprets them with lightness, movement and a modern spirit.
Each peak is built from two foams: one to support, one to soften. Fabric hinges let the forms pivot smoothly, without effort. Invisible zippers connect one module to the next, allowing the landscape to grow as intimate or expansive as life requires. Combine the Seater and Lounger to create an even larger terrain – a flowing composition shaped entirely by your needs.
Indoors, it brings warmth. Outdoors, it welcomes sun, breeze and time. Wrapped in Vetta, a weather-resistant fabric with a surprisingly gentle touch, Peaks Sofa feels at home everywhere.
