Moooi reflects on its roots to propel imagination fearlessly forward

Milan, Italy – April 20th, 2026
This Milan Design Week 2026, Moooi celebrated a defining moment: twenty-five years of fearless imagination, commemorated in silver. Guided by the vision of co-founder and creative director Marcel Wanders, Moooi’s presentation at Superstudio Più returns the design and lifestyle brand to its origins, reflecting on its roots to propel creativity boldly forward.

Wrapped in silver—raw, rough and reflective—Moooi reveals a world where icons are reengineered, dreams become mechanisms and bold experiments reshape the familiar into the extraordinary. It is a moment of reflection without nostalgia, a celebration of transformation, curiosity and momentum.

At Superstudio Più, Moooi presented an immersive environment that brings this silver celebration to life, returning to the original location of the brand’s very first Milan Design Week exhibition 25 years ago. The presentation, an equal partnership between Moooi and Superstudio Design, unfolds as a layered experience where material intelligence, gravity and movement take center stage, informed by the work of internationally renowned choreographer Yoann Bourgeois—known for his exploration of balance, gravity, and suspension at the intersection of dance, architecture, and visual arts. Within Moooi’s installation, this choreographic gesture becomes a metaphor for the brand’s narrative: a continuous search for suspension between stability and risk, past and future, tradition and experimentation, as objects appear poised between poetry and precision, softness and structure, imagination and engineering.

Alongside the main presentation, Moooi extends its presence into the city at Moooi’s store in central Milan, offering visitors another lens through which to explore the brand’s evolving universe during Milan Design Week. Marking its 25th year, Moooi introduces a series of new designs that embody the spirit of reinvention.

Collaborating with Dutch artist Mart Veldhuis, Moooi unveils a monumental anniversary tapestry celebrating the brand’s rich visual universe. Known for his rhythmic, narrative illustration style, Veldhuis translates Moooi’s history into a dense, expressive composition woven with detail, symbolism and layered storytelling. From a distance, the tapestry reads as a bold graphic landscape, while closer inspection reveals a multitude of references to Moooi’s icons, characters, and creative moments.

The debut of the Peaks Sofa by Yves Béhar reimagines seating as a playful, modular landscape designed for comfort and human connection. The anniversary is further expressed through a new Moooi Wallcovering collection, “Monumental Moments” by Moooi, created especially for the twenty-five-year celebration, alongside new Moooi Carpets, including the generative CGI collection Future Fossils by Kilian Vos.

Among the design previews is Urchina Light by Studio Roderick Vos, a floating constellation of slender carbon rods inspired by the symmetry and rhythm of sea urchins – expressive by day and atmospheric by night. Push Light by Paul Cocksedge transforms a simple gesture into illumination, shaping a soft reflective glow through paper, ring and balance.

Alongside these new introductions, Moooi presents evolving icons and expanded collections. Meshmatics returns with two new sizes and wall- and ceiling-mounted variations, refining its signature wire-basket construction. For Milan Design Week only, Paper Chandelier is reintroduced in three sizes, offering a fresh expression of a familiar form and Common Comrades is reintroduced in a new smoked bamboo material.

Looking beyond the present, Moooi offers an exclusive preview of Powerline, its first Architectural Lighting collection developed in collaboration with new lighting partner Intra Lighting. Presented at Superstudio Più as a glimpse of what is to come, Powerline signals a new chapter for Moooi by expanding its universe from expressive objects to complete lighting ecosystems that bridge architectural and decorative design.

Pino Tree by Andrés Reisinger introduces a luminous kinetic sculpture inspired by the symbolic presence of the pine tree. Presented as a preview installation during Milan Design Week, the design is part of a forest installation at Superstudio Più, where rotating illuminated trees create a surreal landscape of light, movement, and celebration.

This year, Moooi Weer, meaning ‘beautiful again’, returns as a celebration of renewal, inviting a fresh perspective on objects from the past. Developed in collaboration with renowned trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort, the project introduces ‘Tin Age’, a matte metallic hue inspired by tin — a colour rooted in modest, industrial origins and reimagined as a contemporary surface for today. Applied as a paint, Tin Age transforms existing objects into something beautifully new again.

With each unveiling, Moooi continues to shape extraordinary interiors where ideas are free to evolve, objects invite emotion and spaces become stories. Milan Design Week 2026 marks not a conclusion, but a continuation. The silver celebration is only the beginning.

Known for iconic designs such as the Herman Miller Sayl Chair and Samsung Frame TV, his work is rooted in the belief that design accelerates the adoption of new ideas, shaping products that transform  how we live. RICK TEGELAAR

Rick Tegelaar is a Dutch designer based in Arnhem, The Netherlands. He has been interested in machinery and mechanical processes since childhood. This fascination for engineering, combined with his delicate sense of esthetics, is reflected in his designs,

which shed a new light on undervalued materials and existing techniques. Aesthetics are often wrongly neglected within industrial processes. By making small changes in the methods of production, Rick shows how to attain new aesthetics in industrial materials.

Their work has been exhibited and recognised worldwide, reflecting a research-driven approach that bridges contemporary design with cultural narrative.

KILIAN VOS

Kilian Vos is a 3D artist and designer based in Amsterdam. Her work explores the interplay between the digital and physical, creating virtual environments that feel real and objects that move fluidly between both worlds. Through a mix of CGI and physical fabrication, she builds sculptural forms and imagined spaces that question what is tangible, and what is simulated. Her work often blurs perception - making the digital feel material, and the material feel unreal. Her style is bold and sculptural, with a focus on atmosphere, texture, and emotional resonance. Through her work, she looks at how ‘the digital’ can create new ways of experiencing and relating to the objects and spaces surrounding us.

ANDRÉS REISINGER

Creating at the intersection of art, design, and direction, Andrés Reisinger bridges the imagined and the tangible. Conceptual yet accessible, his immersive 3D visuals, otherworldly compositions, and experimental use of texture draws the realm of dreams close. Hailing from Buenos Aires and based in Barcelona, Reisinger applies over a decade’s worth of experience working with the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung to challenge the boundaries of diverse media. His progressive spatial experiences and hyped collectible pieces have earned him recognition in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe, ADC One Club Young Guns, and the AD100, among others.

STUDIO JOB

Founded in 1998 by artist Job Smeets, Studio Job is a pioneering art and design studio based in the Netherlands and internationally recognized for its monumental and conceptual sculpture. Working in a renaissance spirit, Smeets leads a team of master craftspeople in a vast atelier where traditional techniques— such as bronze casting and stained glass—coexist with advanced technologies including laser cutting and 3D printing. Studio Job operates across art, design, and interiors, creating highly detailed, one-of-a-kind works that embody the idea of Gesamtkunstwerk: a total work of art.

Studio Job’s work is held in most major international museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the V&A, and the Rijksmuseum, and has been presented in over 400 exhibitions worldwide, from the Venice Biennale to large-scale public installations in cities such as Amsterdam, St. Tropez, and Miami.
