From upholsterer to versatile designer&nbsp;

Walter Antonis (1943) is a Dutch designer celebrated for his clear formal language and functional approach. While studying at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, he joined furniture brand Spectrum, where he initially worked as an upholsterer in close collaboration with Martin Visser. Visser encouraged Antonis to further develop his understanding of design principles and soon offered him a position as a designer.&nbsp;

One of Antonis’s most renowned creations is the SZ14 armchair from 1971, a design that perfecly embodies his vision of simplicity and functionality: using only the strictly necessary materials, with meticulous attention to detail and comfort.&nbsp;

Guided by a consistent design philosphy and a strong sense of proportion, Antonis creates furniture that was both rational and refined. His work is defined by a strict, constructive logic in which material and function take precedence, combined with a minimalist and timeless aesthetic.&nbsp;
